EXPLORE PORTO
Porto.
Known as "Invicta"
is the second largest city in Portugal.
The history of Porto dates back to pre-Roman times, but it was the Roman foundation, around 200 BC, of Portus Cale (which later evolved into Portucale) that would eventually give the country its name. The city flourished as a commercial center, especially thanks to the wine trade, and played a crucial role in Portugal’s maritime expansion during the Age of Discoveries. Over the centuries, it withstood invasions and sieges, earning the title of “Invicta” (undefeated). Today, Porto is a city rich in history and culture, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
