The Porto City Park is Portugal’s largest urban park, covering around 83 hectares from the Boavista area all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. The gardens are a pleasant green space located in the center of Porto, offering stunning panoramic views of the Douro River and the sea.These gardens were designed by Emil David (1839-1873) as part of the construction of the Crystal Palace building itself. Today, the Emil David Garden at the main entrance, the Avenues of the Linden Trees and Plane Trees, the woods, and the design of the balconies overlooking the Douro remain from the original project. On the Avenue of the Linden Trees, we find the Almeida Garrett Municipal Library, the Acoustic Shell, and the Chapel of Carlos Alberto da Sardenha.
Serralves Park covers 18 hectares and comprises a wide variety of magnificent spaces that are harmoniously interconnected: formal gardens, woods, and a traditional farm. Designed by architect Jacques Gréber in the 1930s, it is a unique landmark in Portugal's landscape heritage.
The Park offers privileged contact with nature and a unique experience of the diversity of its botanical heritage. During a visit to the park, you can see the sculptures - on permanent display - which are works from the Serralves Foundation Collection.
